Job Description:
Overview
The Contact Center Business Intelligence and Data Science team has
four core groupings: Data Operations, Insights and Data Science,
Data Engineering, and Performance Management and Self-Service.
Data Operations enables our division to deliver business value from
our data and its underlying infrastructure. It's the overall
approach to designing, building, moving, and using our data
on-premises and in the cloud.
The Insights and Data Science group focuses on delivering
descriptive, exploratory, inferential, predictive, causal, and
mechanistic analysis within the Data Operations structure. They
work directly with the Data Engineering group to ensure the data is
sourced and governed.
The Data Engineering group focuses on designing, developing, and
maintaining data infrastructure tools and platforms under the Data
Operations structure. They source raw data from various sources and
transform it into usable information that data analysts and data
scientists can use to interpret and analyze.
The Performance Management and Self-Service group focuses on
Performance Management and the self-service catalog for the Contact
Center. They ensure business value alignment, strategic alignment,
and governance for the performance management platform for over
5500 users. Additionally, they manage the Contact Center
self-service catalog and ensure report governance.
The Summer Associate will work in a flexible hybrid or remote
manner and may report to one of our campuses in Winchester, VA or
Pensacola, FL. The Summer Associate will work primarily in the
Insights and Data Science group but may also work
cross-functionally with the Data Operations and Performance
Management and Self-Service groups.
A possible project for the Summer Associate would be Signal
Detection: Working with senior analysts and data scientists to
develop a framework to detect signals in business data and automate
analysis in a SQL server environment.
The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program
beginning in May 2024 and ending in August 2024. Students will work
on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship.
To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing
a degree from an accredited college or university and have an
anticipated graduation date of December 2024 or later.
Responsibilities
Support the development, maintenance, and management of reporting,
dashboards, data models, and analytical results
Evaluate and define functional requirements for analytics and
business intelligence (BI) solutions
Retrieve, analyze, and validate data and test accuracy of reported
results
Work with project leads to understand requirements and propose key
analytics solutions to drive effective decision-making and
influence business objectives
Produce actionable reports that demonstrate key performance
indicators, identify areas of improvement for current operations,
and show root cause analysis of problems
Analyze and summarize business operations, customer and/or economic
data in order to improve business intelligence, optimize operating
effectiveness, and predict business outcomes
Identify trends and patterns in business data; create data
visualizations to support business decision making
Support complex Data Science and Big Data projects
Communicate data outcomes to business stakeholders and
leadership
Qualifications
Pursuing Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer
Science, Engineering, or other related field
Some experience in the application of statistical methods,
mathematical techniques, forecasting, cost-benefit analysis,
related analytical tools and programming languages
Some skill in interpreting, extrapolating, and interpolating data
for statistical research and modeling
Working knowledge of problem resolution including determining root
cause, scope, and scale of issues
Basic skill presenting findings, conclusions, alternatives, and
information clearly and concisely
Familiarity with data warehousing, data cleaning, and other
analytical techniques required for data usage
Effective skill in understanding and communicating data presented
in models, charts, and tables
Effective skill in the use of measurement and statistical practices
to analyze current and historical data to make predictions,
identify risks and opportunities enabling better decisions on
planned/future events
Working knowledge of and the ability to perform basic statistical
analysis such as measures of central tendency, normal distribution,
variance, standard deviation, basic tests, correlation, and
regression techniques
Familiarity with data models, design tools, business/technical
requirements, statistical programming languages, and data
queries
Familiarity with various data structures and ability to extract
data sources (e.g., PySpark, PowerBI)
Effective SQL Skills
Basic verbal and written communication skills

a hybrid schedule is to report onsite 4-16 days each month. The
