Introduction

The Department of Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Services is seeking a full-time Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join the Medical Team.


Job Description

The nurse practitioner is responsible for providing consultation to psychiatrists and community primary care physicians and serves as an integral member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team including nurses, care coordinators, clinicians, and other service providers as needed. The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP):

  • Provides extraordinary care by evaluating and treating individuals who present with serious mental illness including substance use disorders and developmental disorders.
  • The nurse practitioner is responsible for coordinating and providing psychiatric services including engagement, assessment and diagnoses, treatment planning, medication management, and discharge planning for individuals with psychiatric conditions.
  • Has knowledge of psychotherapy, crisis intervention and crisis stabilization.
  • Will possess excellent documentation skills and documents in the Electronic Health Record, achieving measures for meaningful use, and promoting integrated primary and behavioral healthcare. The primary work locations include the Leesburg and Eastern Loudoun office sites. Flexible scheduling with additional compensation is provided for the on-call schedule, generally one week every 4-5 weeks for evening and weekend hours. There may also be an occasion that requires availability after business hours for case-specific consultation. This position also allows for a hybrid of telepsychiatry and onsite work. HIRING RANGE: $74,285.71-$104,000.00 -Salary Commensurate with Experience


    Job Requirements

    • Master's degree from an accredited School of Nursing. Preferred:
      • Minimum 4 years of professional experience.
      • Applicable certification from a recognized certifying organization such as American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners preferred.
      • Bilingual desirable but not necessary.


        Special Requirements

        • Previous experience working as a Psychiatric Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
        • Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Certificate required.
        • Active State Controlled Substance License II through V.
        • DEA Certificate II through V.
        • License for Autonomous practice in Virginia is preferred but will consider applicants who require a Physician Practice Agreement with MHSADS.


          Post Conditional Offer Contingencies

          Employment is contingent upon successfully passing pre-employment background check to include fingerprinting, credit, NCIC, DMV and TB test. Must have a good driving record and a valid driver's license in Virginia or regional state of residence.
