Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PACU Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Rotating Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active State License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS Must-Have: Previous Charge Experience Description: The PACU is a specialized unit providing 24/7 peri-anesthesia care. The unit accommodates a diverse patient population across various age groups. Nurses provide vigilant pre and post-operative care for inpatients and outpatients. Care is given to patients undergoing scheduled or emergency surgery. The team serves patients from more than 20 surgical and procedural services. Nurses must be competent in titration of vasopressors. Airway management, care of ventilated patients, and blood product administration are essential skills. Fluid resuscitation is also a critical component of care. Nurses are expected to manage a patient ratio of 1:2. Weekend, holiday, and on-call coverage is required. The PACU offers a variety of clinical experiences for continual learning. The role requires high adaptability to different clinical scenarios.
