Job Description:

MedStar Health, a leading not-for-profit healthcare organization in the DMV area, is seeking a dedicated RN Nurse Navigator specializing in Cancer Care within our OBGYN department. This role is pivotal in providing personalized and patient-centered care by guiding patients through the complex healthcare system, facilitating access to necessary medical services, and ensuring continuous support and education during their treatment journey. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of oncology patient care, exceptional interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes. Conduct initial patient consultations to assess healthcare needs and treatment goals. Develop and coordinate effective care plans in collaboration with oncology and OBGYN teams. Serve as a primary point of contact for patients and their families, providing timely information and support. Educate patients on cancer treatments, side effects, and health maintenance during treatment. Advocate for patients’ needs and preferences with healthcare providers. Facilitate communication across various departments to ensure comprehensive care delivery. Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as needed. Maintain up-to-date patient records and participate in case reviews. Strong interpersonal and communication skills In-depth knowledge of oncology and OBGYN care Ability to multitask and manage time effectively Comfort with patient education and advocacy Experience with electronic health record systems Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Current Registered Nurse (RN) license Certified Oncology Nurse (OCN) preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
