Registered Nurse (RN) | Pediatric Med/Surg Location: Washington, DC Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $3,154 per week Shift Information: Nights - 4 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 2/9/2026 About the Position TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Peds Med/Surg RN in Washington, Washington DC, 20017! Job Title: Pediatric Step Down Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Pediatrics Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years of pediatric nursing experience preferred License: Active RN license required Certifications: BLS/CPR required; CPN or pediatric rehab certification preferred Must-Have: Strong assessment and communication skills Experience with medically complex pediatric patients preferred Ability to supervise CNAs/LPNs/PCAs as needed Description: The Pediatric Step Down Registered Nurse will provide nursing care for pediatric patients in a transitional setting. The nurse will manage and care for patients with medical complexities, including cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and developmental disorders. Patient education for families and caregivers will be a key component of care. The nurse will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to achieve the maximal level of function for each patient. Typical nurse to patient ratios are 1:6 for older children and 1:4 for infants and toddlers. Strong experience with pediatric assessments, care management, and rehabilitation is critical. The role requires proficiency in various pediatric care procedures and therapies. Comfort with ventilated/tracheostomy patients and experience with IV management is important. Occasional weekend shifts may be required based on facility needs.
