Additional Job Description: West Virginia University School of
Medicine - Eastern Division and the Department of Surgery seek a
Colorectal Surgeon (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate
Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will be expected
to practice in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Duties: The successful
candidate will practice in the areas of Colorectal Surgery. In
addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful
candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical
students, residents, and fellows . Qualifications: Candidate must
have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for
state medical license. A successful candidate must have completed a
surgical residency program. Fellowship in Colorectal Surgery
required. Successful candidates must be board certified/eligible in
General/Colorectal Surgery. All qualifications must be met by the
time of the appointment. Martinsburg, WV is in the Eastern
Panhandle of West Virginia a little more than an hour from
Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, MD close to 3 international
airports. A rural atmosphere and a lower cost of living mixed with
the easy accessibility to the Washington DC / Baltimore areas make
the Eastern Panhandle an ideal place in which to live. While
Berkeley County is among the fastest growing counties in the state,
there is little congestion and traffic. In recent years, a steady
influx of urban professionals from nearby Washington, DC and
Baltimore, Maryland have contributed to the growth of local
telecommuting and high-tech industries. The West Virginia
University Health System is West Virginia’s largest health system
and the state’s largest employer. The System has undergone
significant expansion in specialty and sub-specialty care in areas
such as cancer, heart and vascular, and neuroscience, among many
