We are seeking an experienced PreOp Interview Nurse to ensure an effective and thorough communication process with the patient prior to arrival at the surgery center. HOURS: (0.8) Monday-Friday, 0, day off will vary according to the unit's needsJOB DESCRIPTION:Completes PreOp phone assessment with patient to include: Verification of surgery date, time, expected arrival time, and procedureHealth history of the Surgical PatientNPO instructions as per anesthesia PreOp ordersAny individualized instructions pertinent to patient's surgery or history Consults with Medical Director/Chief of Anesthesia on any special needs depending on health historyNotifies patient and surgeon/PCP of any pre-op lab or EKG needs, coordinates with surgeon's office and patient's PCP to obtain necessary lab results before admissionCommunicates any patient special needs (blood sugar, disabilities, anxiety) to the PreOP/PACU Nurse Manager, coordinates with Anesthesia and PreOp Nurse Manager the pre-admission needs of patientsEXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursingCurrent RN license in the state of Virginia, BLS certificationPreOp/PACU experience requiredExcellent verbal and written communication skillsBasic computer skills required, previous experience with HST and One Medical Passport systems a plusMust be able to sit for long periods of time and to handle high volume of phone calls dailyInova Health System Job ID #1318.About Inova Health SystemThe--Inova--Ambulatory Surgery Centers are joint ventures between--Inova--Health System and Physician Owners.--Our locations include:--Inova--Franconia-Springfield Surgery CenterInova--Lorton Surgery CenterInova--Loudoun Ambulatory Surgery CenterInova--Northern Virginia Surgery CenterInova--McLean Surgery Center--We are full service ambulatory outpatient facilities.
