Job DescriptionAdult Acute Care Speech Language Pathologist - ability to care for individuals with variety of speech, language and swallow disorders in the acute care setting.Required at least one weekend day a month and one holiday a year. Selects evaluation and treatment methods appropriate to the diagnosis, age group and patients physical and emotional status and formulates appropriate treatment plans. Demonstrates essential skill competencies in the use of treatment modalities, equipment and protocols. Performs re-evaluations according to department guidelines, adjusting the treatment plan accordingly. Demonstrates understanding of all rehabilitation regulatory and payer requirements and applies in clinical practice on a daily basis Adheres to department policy regarding time-frame, form and content of written evaluations, progress notes and discharge summaries. Communicates effectively with patients, family, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors and outside contacts.
