Job Description:
Job Description Job Description AST SpaceMobile is building the
first and only global cellular broadband network in space to
operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices based on
our extensive IP and patent portfolio and designed for both
commercial and government applications. Our engineers and space
scientists are on a mission to eliminate the connectivity gaps
faced by today's five billion mobile subscribers and finally bring
broadband to the billions who remain unconnected. Position Overview
We are seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to join our team
for the 2026 Summer Internship Program. This internship provides
hands-on experience supporting the design, analysis, testing, and
integration of satellite electrical components and associated
ground support equipment. The intern will work closely with
experienced engineers within the Electrical and Power Subsystem
(EPS) and across other subsystems, gaining exposure to real
spacecraft hardware and system-level electrical design during a
structured summer program. This is a 14-week internship beginning
05/18/2026 at our Lanham, MD location. To be considered for the
internship you must be enrolled in the following semester. If you
are a recent graduate, please apply to one of our full-time roles.
Key Responsibilities Support the design, analysis, testing, and
integration of satellite electrical systems, including batteries,
solar panels, and power distribution. Assist engineers with
system-level electrical design tasks such as power budgeting, load
analysis, and interface definition between spacecraft subsystems.
Help develop, execute, and document test procedures to verify EPS
functionality, performance, and reliability. Participate in
hands-on hardware testing and troubleshooting activities in
laboratory environments under engineer supervision. Assist in
creating and maintaining technical documentation, including
electrical schematics, block diagrams, interface control documents,
and test reports. Support analysis of electrical performance data
collected on-orbit and help identify potential anomalies.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, thermal, RF,
command and data handling, mission operations, and software) to
support system integration and verification. Qualifications
Education Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical
engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering,
computer science, or a related field. Experience Relevant
coursework, laboratory experience, or academic projects involving
circuits, power electronics, systems engineering, space systems, or
aerospace applications. Prior internship or co-op experience is a
plus but not required. Preferred Qualifications Exposure to
satellite Electrical and Power Systems concepts such as solar
arrays, batteries, power conditioning, and power distribution.
Basic understanding of circuit analysis, power electronics, and
electrical safety practices. Familiarity with CAD or schematic
capture tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, Altium, Mentor Graphics,
or similar). Introductory experience with analysis or simulation
tools (e.g., MATLAB, SPICE). Experience through internships, co-op
programs, academic projects, or student design teams (e.g.,
CubeSat, rocketry, or robotics). Soft Skills Strong desire to learn
and apply engineering fundamentals in a real-world environment.
Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional
engineering teams. Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Analytical mindset with developing problem-solving and
troubleshooting abilities. Attention to detail in technical work
and documentation. Technology Stack Electrical analysis and
simulation tools: MATLAB, SPICE. CAD and schematic capture tools
(varies by project). Test equipment: power supplies, multimeters,
oscilloscopes (exposure or interest). Physical Requirements Ability
to work in a standard office environment and use a computer for
extended periods. Occasional hands-on work with hardware in
laboratory environments under supervision This job description may
not be inclusive to the duties and responsibilities listed.
Additional tasks may be assigned to the employee from time to time
or the scope of the job may change as needed by business demands .
